Hallway Confinement—Graphite Shading Brush, mostly

 

I have a new respect for painters with their edges defined by light, shading, and color blending.

I like to make an outline and color inside the lines. With this piece I wanted to try something else. I still made an outline, but I didn’t use brushes that make fine edges like a pen or oil brush.

Instead, most of the coloring was done with the procreate Graphite Shading brush. Also used, was a bit of air airbrush, charcoal, and oil paint.

In the making of video, you’ll see the table that could have been. I imagined a large lively table that was stuck in the hallway. I let it go because after making the dark end of the hallway I decided that I preferred not having it hidden from view.
